Identification of Simple Fractions: Problem 4

Rule 1: All fractions have three parts: a numerator, a denominator, and a division symbol. In the simple fraction, the numerator and the denominator are integers.

Problem 4: Write the numerator, denominator, and division symbol for the simple fraction tex2html_wrap_inline12 .

Answer. This is not a fraction; its value is undefined because the denominator has a value of zero. Note -7 + 7 = 0.
