Reducing Fractions: Problem 2

To reduce a simple fraction, follow the following three steps:

1.
Factor the numerator.
2.
Factor the denominator.
3.
Find the fraction mix that equals 1.

Problem 2: Reduce the fraction tex2html_wrap_inline36 .

Answer. Rewrite the fraction with the numerator factored and the denominator factored. The fraction tex2html_wrap_inline36 can be written as

The fraction tex2html_wrap_inline36 has been reduced into the equivalent fraction tex2html_wrap_inline44

You can check the answer with your calculator. When you divide 14 by 18, you will get the same answer as when you divide 7 by 9.
